Just beyond the city walls, between the late18th century and early 19th century, Ortygia saw the construction of several fine noble homes, which were built by noteworthy familes at the time as their summer abodes. Villa Borghese bears witness to this architectural and urban passage in the territory of Syracuse.
The house rises up on the east Riviera, the point which joins the city and the sea of Syracuse. It was built on the rocky coast and enjoys a dominant postion. It is developed over an area of 330 square metres on just one storey and a cellar below provides a further 170 square metres. As well as being a 19th centrury Liberty building, the property has a seafront area of 500 square metres including a private slope down to the sea. The property on sale has been served with a Decree of the Regional Government: “an asset of important historical and artistic interest, in that it is a testimony of the 20th century Borghese Villa, where a global project is enhanced by the bonding of architecture, decorative patterns and furnishings in a unique and harmonious setting.”
